Pepys mentioned this place at least a dozen times in his diaries, but the next recorded visits aren’t until 1663.
Between 1651 and 1665 the Sun was kept by a wealthy man named Nicholas Coleborne, sometimes referred to as “The Captain”.
Oops. Here’s another mention in 1661. You get to wondering if he really lists all the taverns he goes to in a day. Maybe his citations are limited to the stops that connect to noteworthy meetings.
