Sir Godfrey Lloyd, kt 1674 (b. after 1608, d. 1671?). Chief engineer of ports, castles and fortifications 1661-7. Pepys later wrote that his work at Sheerness was so badly executed that it had to be done again. It was alleged that he had been appointed only because he was English.
