Lady Essex Howard. Daughter of the 15th Earl of Suffolk andf his first wife Susan. In 1667 she married Sir Edward Griffin of Braybrooke, northants. (cr. Baron Griffin 1688), a Jacobite who died in the Tower in 1710. It was through this marriage that Audley End House passed into the Braybrooke family.
