Note... Misread the date of my Edward Proger letter to Prince Rupert... it is from 1648, not 1668. They had fought together in the Battle of Naseby in 1645.

As to the dynamics of the court in exile at the Hague, I have a letter from Edward Proger to Prince Rupert from this year, quite solicitous, in which he asks from the prince a commission, and so we must therefor be made assured of his politicking in the matter of W. Pen vis-a-vis Prince Rupert. (Although a similar letter may have been written by Proger to Pen). It is nice to have the incident profiled in Pepys.
