Portraits added to 'pop ups'

I thought it would be useful if the little “pop up” pieces of text that appear when you hover over underlined words in the diary could also contain pictures. So I’ve been through all the people in the Encyclopedia who are also linked to Wikipedia pages, and copied any portraits found there.

  Phil, I’m afraid it doesn’t work for me. All it does is make the first line of text in the pop-up unreadable, because it no longer masks the background text underneath. I’m using Google Chrome, if that makes a difference.

  Paul, it works fine for me in Google Chrome. Maybe the browser is caching an old version of the stylesheet - is it any better now (I’ve done something that might force it to use the latest version)?

  I tried that, but still no joy. But it seems to be every rollover that unmasks the top line, not just the ones that may have pictures attached. It unmasks all the way across, creating a notch in the left and right borders.

  Hmm, I’m not sure what to suggest. It will affect both types of rollover as I had to change how the non-picture ones were done too.

  What version of Chrome are you using, and what operating system?

  Has anyone else found this problem?

  Excellent feature! While I’ve looked at their portraits before, this really helps forging that mental connection between face and action.

  Works fine for me with Chrome 1.0.154.59 under XP SP3 fully updated. Good feature - thanks for all the extra work.

  Excellent, and excellent! No prob, with Firefox 3.5.2 and unimproved original XP Pro. Nice to be reminded of Elizabeth’s features as she works to duplicate the Virgin’s.

  I am using latest Firefox on my iMac.
  Since you’ve added portraits to the pop ups
  they are now transparent and hard to read.

  Otherwise I love the Pepys site; thank you.

  (My wife of thinks I’m kind of crazy, though.)

  What happened to the (illuminating) portrait of Catherine de Braganza prtrayed as St Catherine?
  Has it been removed?
