Per L&M Companion:
1st. Bt. (d. 1670). Merchant and leatherseller. He was Sheriff in 1643-4 but was discharged from the Corporation for his royalism in 1649. He was made a gentleman of the Privy Chamber in 1667. He had a house in Greenwich.
