Copy of an agreement between the Admiralty and Henry Nichols of Kilmeaden, Co. Waterford, concerning the clearing of the Medway River, 1668.

"Upon which newes the King and Duke of York have been below ... since four o’clock in the morning, to command the sinking of ships at Barking-Creeke, and other places, to stop their coming up higher..."

"Maj. Henry Nicolls had in May contracted with the Board to clear the Medway of the wrecks sunk there in 1667 as part of the river's defences."
