from L&M Companion Archer. A family from Bourn near Cambridge. 'The fair Betty' Archer was admired by Pepys in his undergraduate days. Her sister Mary (said to be worth L1000) married Clement Sandey, ex-fellow of Magdalene, in 1669. Their uncle who lived in the Old Jewry was possibly Robert Archer, citizen and grocer, of that street, who occurs in a will in 1659.
