Sir Robert Coke (1586 - 1653), Son of Chief Justice Sir Edward Coke (1552 - 1633), and a neighbour of John Pepys of Ashtead. His wife was Theophila, daughter of Elizabeth Lady Berkeley, through whom he acquired his house, the Durdans, nr Epsom. He bequeathrf it to his nephew George Lod Berkeley, afterwards Earl of Berkeley. (L&M Companion)
