  • This 2nd Lord Montagu seem to have had quite a conventional life.
From a web site concerned with “The Montagus of Boughton”:
“It was perhaps just as well that in these tempestuous years his son, the 2nd Lord Montagu, was of a more retiring nature, content with peacefully managing his estates.” His father, Edward, 1st Lord Mountagu of Boughton, died at home under house arrest and the 3rd Lord, Ralph, has quite a colorful history.

Q: How did a “Ralph” get in here?
A: “The elder brother, Edward [Yet another Edward], who had been Master of the Horse to the Duchess of York and then to Queen Catherine, was killed in naval action against the Dutch in 1665.”
