Thomas Elborough was one of Pepys’s schoolfellows, and afterwards curate of St. Lawrence Poultney.
The Companion gives his name as [Robert].
L&M Companion posits (in parens) Robert for the first name of this St. Paul’s schoolfellow of Sam’s. Born at Hamburg. Went on to Emmanuel College, Cambridge. St. Lawrence Poultney curate in 1664.
On 4 February 1663, Pepys encounters Elborough at St. Paul’s school, and refers to Elborough as “…a fool, as he ever was, or worse.”
