Major General Johan Caspar von Cicignon (c. 1625-1696) was a Luxembourgian soldier and military engineer. He spent most of his career in the service of Denmark–Norway.
Born in Oberwampach, in northern Luxembourg, Cicignon became a Danish officer in 1657. He became commandant at the Bergenshus fortress, Norway, in the early 1660s. As such he was involved in the Battle of Vågen in 1665, when an English flotilla attacked a Dutch treasure fleet, sheltering in the bay of Bergen. In 1681, he was sent to Trondheim, Norway, to lead the rebuilding of the town after a massive city fire. Cicignon's baroque style is still leading in Trondheim's structure.
