    kt. 1646. (1619-1701) Of Badley, Suff. A Royalist; M.P. for Bury St. Edmunds 1661-71 (one of Arlington’s followers); sub-commissioner of prizes 1665-7; clerk-extraordinary in the Privy Council by 1667: envoy to Brandenburg-Prussia. He was disappointed of the hope of becoming secretary to the Treasury in 1668 and was compensated by the grant of several revenue posts. His wife was a daughter of Sir Henry Crofts, of Little Saxham, Suff.
