Afterwards Sir William Sanderson, gentleman of the chamber, author of the “History of Mary Queen of Scots, James I., and Charles I.” His wife, Dame Bridget, was mother of the maids.

kt 1625 (?1586-1676). An historian and distant relative of Pepys: the connection may have been through Anne Sanderson, second wife of Richard Pepys of the parish of Great St Bartholomew’s, or/and through Mary Pepys, sister of the same Richard, wife of Robert Sanderson. He wrote two historical works, “A compleat history of the lives and reigns of Mary Queen of Scotland, and of her son and successor, James” (1656); and “A compleat history of the life and raigne of King Charles from his cradle to the grave” (1658), the latter an exercise in hagiography. Evelyn thought them ‘large but meane’. Neither is preserved in the Pepys Library. He was made a Gentleman of the Privy Chamber to the King c. 1660….see:
