  • *The German Princess* by John Holden
Dramatization of a real-life fraud in which a woman semi-sucessfully passes herself off as a German Princess, starring the perpatratix herself, in a performance of 15 April 1664 called “simple” by Pepys. The real name of the woman was Mary Carleton http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Carleton

Holden is also credited with another “simple” play, *The Ghosts* that Pepys attended 17 April 1665. http://www.pepysdiary.com/p/8478.php
