    1659 — captain, the Wexford
    1660 — captain, the Dolphin

    T. Bayles, another master’s mate, recommended him to Edward Mountagu.

    Jowles appears in the diary once, on 31 March 1660.

    A Henry Jowles and his wife, Rebecca, also appear in the diary later, but no relationship to this Jowles is mentioned in the Latham and Matthews edition.
