  • “Messenger to the Council of State, 1660.” (Companion entry, complete, p. 96).
In this post he will appear in the Diary several times during that year, often linked with underclerk Will Symons. Twice Doling receives a “merry” or celebratory note from Pepys (April 26, May 4); on 26 July he takes Pepys to St. James’s fair; and on 23 August he is part of a group which repairs to the Dogg, “where we eat a Muske millon (the first that I have eat this year),” says Pepys. —-Another mate from work, like Luellin (Peter Llewellyn).

  • Doling’s last appearance in the diary
was on 3 November 1660, according to the L&M Index volume.

  • 16 December 1660 is his last appearance,
according to L&M Index, and this time I’m right.
