Master-Joiner at Deptford and Woolwich yards, appointed (or re-appointed) June 1660. Probably the Thomas Simpson who was apprenticed to his father (also Thomas) c. 1618, and who became a liveryman of the Joiners’ Company. He built Pepys’s first two bookpresses in 1666 and did other work for him in his official lodgings. He was also responsible for work on the Duke of York’s yacht ‘Anne’.
