For those outside of London, the Victualling Office was located on the site of the present-day Royal Mint, a little northeast of the Tower of London. It was a short ( about 500m) walk from the Navy Office complex (and the Pepys home) on Seething Lane.
Sam could cut out of the back of the office over to Tower ‘ill [providing they be not a ‘anging that day] slip over to little Tower ‘ill thru George yard, and there be the Victualling office right next to the Slaughter house: He might even see a few heads, that have wronged the Royals.
