    Son of Lord John Somerset, whose father was the 1st Marquess of Worcester (d. 1646). Lord John had three sons of whom Thomas, the eldest, was unmarried at this time.

    Contrariwise, a footnote to the entry for 30th August 1661 suggests that this Thomas was the SECOND son of Lord John Somerset

    Henry Somerset, 1st Marquess of Worcester was born before 1590 to Edward Somerset, 4th Earl of Worcester and Elizabeth Hastings
    Edward Somerset, 2nd Marquess of Worcester (1601-1667)
    Henry Somerset, 3rd Marquess of Worcester (1629-1700)
    became Duke of Beaufort (became Duke of Beaufort in 1682 created by Charles II)
