    Of Brampton. There were two of these names, father and son, who are referred to in the will of Robert Pepys (1657) as his ‘cousin’ and godson respectively. John Greene the elder also occurs in the will of Thomas Trice (1672) as a ‘cousin’ of the testator. In 1673 he was sued by Pepys and his father in Chancery for the recovery of a loan allegedly made by Robert Pepys to Mary Greene, his deceased wife.
