    Cousin; son of Robert Holcroft of Balderton, Notts., who in 1620 had married Mary, sister of Pepys’s father. He and his brother Thomas received legacies from Robert Pepys of Brampton and witnessed his will. A Samuel Holcroft received a ring at Pepys’s funeral as a ‘former servant and dependant’.
