  • The King’s Fishmonger

In other words, he is the purveyor of sea fish to the king. Perhaps someone else provided the freshwater fish.

Arthur Wine supplied fish to the king’s household from about 1660 to 1668 or so. His last name is alternately spelled Wyne (according to the L&M Index volume) or Wind (according to the L&M Companion volume).

He lived on the east side of Fish Street Hill in a house taxed at seven hearths.

He appears twice in the diary — in the 9 November 1660 and 13 April 1663 entries.
