(d. 1666) Musician-in-ordinary for the lutes and violins, appointed in 1633.
Another Evans, Charles, was made harper for the Italian harp in the King’s Music in 1660 and was drawing an annual L5 for strings until 1684. It was Lewis whose death Hingston ( http://www.pepysdiary.com/p/10654.php ) reported to Pepys, but there is no evidence that Lewis played the harp. Pepys may have confused the two.
