Per L&M Companion: “(d. 1681) Civil Lawyer; Fellow of King’s College, Cambridge (1633-81). He served with the royalists and in 1660 was awarded his LL.D. by royal mandate. His association with Pepys was close — he seems to have been a friend or relative of Pepys’s cousins the Angiers …”

This gentleman seems to have had connections with Kings College and Magdalene College; appeared to be studying there at Cambs[granta] getting his Civil law degree. Helped Samuel get his Masters [gave the fee for the correct write up and the correct papyrus sheet] and has connections to Papa Pepis.
