Annotations

  • Per L&M Companion

A rich Turkey merchant and a Presbyterian; MP for Tregony Jan.-Apr. 1659, and for Truro 1660-81. He was active in financial affairs and it was probably he rather than his brother Hugh (M.P. for Tregony in the Cavalier Parliament) who was the Boscawen who challenged Pepys in 1675 about the cost of the ship-building programme.
