(d. 1686) Governor of Dover Castle, 1660-86. A volunteer in the King’s Guards 1658; captain 1st. Foot Guards at Dunkirk 1661: Major 1678; Lt.-Colonel 1682, 1684. Pepys consulted him in the ‘80’s about the history of the Cinque Ports and the question of territorial waters in the Channel.
