There are two ships called Eagle.

One was a merchant ship (usually 4th Rate) and was hired in the Duke of York's squadron in April 1665 with Thomas Hendra as Captain. In July of that year it was in the line with the Royal Charles and the Mermaid, and in September in the White Squadron.

The other was a warship (5th Rate, 135 men and 26 guns) with John Stansby as Captain, and in back from Tangier in April 1665. This ship, along with another, will be involved in an interesting event in one year's time.
