Interesting to know that the Salviati family was very distantly related to King Charles's mother.
So maybe the choice of Giovanni Vincenzo as ambassador was not a pure coincidence...?

With the royalty of Europe constantly looking for 'fit matches' for their children among the nobility of other countries, most of the great families probably were related if you look far enough back.
