MARTIN, William,—was made commander of the Colchester ketch in 1665, and in the following year was promoted to an hired ship of war of fifty guns, called the East India London. He was one of those brave but unfortunate victims, who contributed to purchase with their lives, the great victory gained over the Dutch on the 25th of July following. ---Biographia Navalis. J.
