WOOD, Walter,—was appointed captain of the Princess in 1660. In 1664 he was commander of the Convertine, and soon afterwards removed into the Henrietta: in this ship he gloriously fell, in the hour of victory, being killed in that ever memorable action, between, the English and Dutch fleets, in June, 1666. ---Biographia Navalis.
