Pepys talks at St Olave

Last year St Olave, Pepys’ local church, held a series of talks. They’re doing the same again this year, with one every month. Here’s the schedule of the remaining talks for 2009:

  These talks by Graham Fawcett are really fascinating - I have been to every one given this year (the snow prevented one) plus the excellent ‘production’ by the authors of The Plot Against Pepys’ and ‘The Phoenix’. We get to attempt to sing the Pepys Grace, are treated to lovely music plus a scene-setting each month, all with excellent food; and wine to sip in one’s pew - Sam would have approved methinks - and all this while Elizabeth is turned slightly toward us from above and she is saying something… yet I can not quite hear what it is… surely someone can tell me, it is so frustrating not catching her words.
  Each talk is self-contained, so do come to the next, you will not need to rely on past talks to enjoy the atmosphere to the full. A most splendid way to acquaint oneself with those personalities brought to us through this window of time. You can almost see Sam in his upstairs pew, beady-eyed. Or is he snoozing? Can’t quite see.
